As announced at Partner Meeting and on Facebook this past Tuesday, we want to let everyone know that Megan has accepted a new opportunity and will be leaving KWDMN. We appreciate her role the past 2 years as our Front Desk Concierge and will miss her bright smile and personality. Please stop by the front desk before March 29th to wish her well. We will be having a farewell reception for Megan from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. in our upstairs training room on Friday, March 29th. It would mean so much to Megan if you can stop by.
MEDICAL AND ANCILLARY INSURANCE FOR 1099 REAL ESTATE AGENTS!
Please read the information below regarding Insurance options for 1099 Real Estate Agents in our Market Center. This is a follow-up from Mike Egel with Bridge Insurance– who presented this at our Partner Meeting on Tuesday.
As mentioned during our Partner Meeting, here are some specific talking points:
Benefit plan summaries, videos, and contact information for the Bridge Insurance team and the Enrollment Center can be found on this website.
We are shooting for a June 1st effective date for all plans and benefits.
The deadline for Major Medical applications is April 5th. After this date, we will not accept any more Major Medical applications from existing agents.
Each agent will be contacted by the enrollment team. They will explain each product, including the rates, and will help you sign up for any benefits you choose to protect you and your business.
Agents can call the enrollment team, instead of waiting for them to call you. (877) 282-0808

Anyone interested in applying for Major Medical insurance, will need to fill out an online application at www.formfire.com.
If your spouse and/or dependents are wanting to participate in this plan, you will need their health history, SSN, DOB and prescription information as well.

If you need to update or change any information, click “Employee Login” in the upper right hand corner and then make sure to re-sign your application.

These plans can be purchased separately. You do not have to purchase medical insurance to participate in these other benefits.
Third-Party billing administration
All premiums will be bank drafted directly from the agents account by our TPA.
Should a payment be missed, cancellation will occur and agents will be locked out of coverage until next open enrollment.

Financial Matters Do Matter!
Can a sales agent have an escrow account?
No. Rule 535.146(b)(2) prohibits a sales agent from having an escrow account. The sales agent must turn all money received over to the sales agent’s sponsoring broker.
Can a sales agent have a commission check written to the sales agent’s own corporation or Limited Liability Company? If so, does that entity have to be licensed as a real estate broker?
All commissions must be paid through the agent’s sponsoring broker.[TRELA §1101.651(b)] Further, a business entity that receives compensation on behalf of a license holder must be licensed as a broker. [TRELA §1101.355(c)]
Can a sales agent receive or pay a commission to a party in a real estate transaction?
No. A sales agent may not accept compensation for a real estate transaction from anyone other than the broker the sales agent was associated with at the time the commission was earned and may not pay a commission to a person except through the sales agent’s sponsoring broker. [TRELA §1101.651(b) and (c)]
Violations may be subject to disciplinary sanctions by the Sponsoring Broker along with TREC, including but not limited to, license revocation, license suspension, reprimand and/or an administrative penalty.
