It is Tax Free Weekend in Texas for school shoppers so you know what that means … school is about ready to begin again! Tax holiday 2017 begins today and runs through Sunday, August 13th. If you need to stock up on new clothes, footwear, school supplies, etc., this weekend is the time to do it. You will have to deal with larger crowds but it may be worth it if you have big purchases. The law exempts most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced below $100 from sales tax, saving shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend during the weekend according to the Texas Comptroller. Agent Tip of the Week!
Gaining the Email Edge with Videos*!
Snappy subject lines are a great way to improve your email open rates. However, taking your messages one step further for engagement requires attention-getting content. Videos are one of the best ways to bring your emails to life. Videos are becoming more popular and we offer our agents the use of our video room. Researchers have found that using the word “video” in an email subject line boosts open rates by 19% and click-through rates by 65%. Moreover, when marketers included a video in an email, the click-through rate increased by 200-300%! Here are some ways to use videos:
Respond to Leads – Instead of a generic auto-response message, try embedding a short and friendly (pre-recorded) introductory video into your auto response. This gives potential clients a very comfortable, low-pressure chance to “meet” you.
Nurture your Leads – Once you have established that initial rapport, clients will probably be more responsive to viewing future video clips too. Ideally, you will want to make these personalized, providing a brief follow-up on their initial inquiry.
Nurturing Referrals – A warm, personal video comes close to approximating face-to-face contact, making it a great way to extend birthday and holding greetings (and remain top-of-mind with your sphere of influence). It’s also an excellent way to follow up with people you’ve met at networking events – much more impactful than only exchanging business cards!
Deliver Good News – You just learned that your buyers’ offer was accepted. Imagine how they would react to your short video clip, enthusiastically delivering the news. Communicating with excitement and best wishes “in person” is a great way to connect yourself with these positive emotions. Similarly, video is an excellent way to express gratitude. The words “thank you” sound much more sincere when accompanied by a smiling, appreciative face.

Every REALTOR should have their REALTORstatus on all advertising and marketing per Article 12 of the TAR Code of Ethics. We are running low on decals and will not be ordering more so if you need them, they are only 50 cents each and can be added to your office bill. It is your responsibility to ensure that all signs, ads and marketing are in compliance with TAR and TREC now and in the future.
